Minors lured to climb atop hoarding for protest

HYDERABAD: Two leaders of evangelist-turnedpolitician K A Paul’s Praja Santhi party stooped to the lowest levels after they paid money to four minors asking them to climb atop a hoarding in Banjara Hills to force the Government to pursue their demands. The leaders were promptly arrested.Interestingly, the leaders threatened the minors when they wanted to come down the hoarding. The drama lasted for nearly four hours.According to the police, the two leaders — Kola Srinivas Rao of Khairatabad and Sudheer Kumar of Vizianagaram — lured the four minors, all aged around 14, from Prem Nagar in Banjara Hills to do ‘their work’ and paid them Rs 500.

The children were brought to the hoarding near the graveyard at Punjagutta and were asked to climb it. Sudheer Kumar accompanied the children while Srinivas Rao stayed back with a list of demands.Around 8.30 am, after the minors reached the top of the hoarding, the leaders called up the police and media."Srinivas Rao demanded that the cases filed against Paul on the complaint by the Medak district collector should be withdrawn immediately and permission should be given to him to conduct meetings," Banjara Hills police sub-inspector M Ravinder Reddy said.

Seeing a large number of policemen and media, the minors agreed to climb down but Sudheer began threatening them saying they would be arrested, and prevented them from coming down. After negotiations which lasted for more than four hours, Sudheer and the four minors finally came down."We registered cases against Srinivas Rao and Sudheer Kumar based on the complaint given by the minors and arrested them," Ravinder Reddy said."

We were given money and asked to climb the hoarding but we are not aware that a drama was unfolding. We tried to come down after police and media reached the spot, but he (Sudheer) prevented us from doing so and threatened that the police would take action against us," one of the boys said. The police is also probing the role of other persons, including Praja Santhi party chief Paul. "Sudheer Kumar tried to come down twice, but did not after receiving phone calls on his mobile. This indicates that there are others behind the whole drama," Ravinder Reddy said. The boys were let off.

Hoarding advertising provides a boundless range of improvement as compared to other advertising mediums. The brand message conveyed through OOH media is also clutter-free.
